Visited Countries 2008

create your own visited countries map

Compared to the map of '06, now Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Cambodia added. Now it's 9% of the world. Look forward to explore the rest of the lands and oceans, especially South America and Africa.

Felt Power!

There are lots of possibilities of felt shaping. The final product is very strong though the material is quite soft and fluffy. Thanks to the felt needle I bought in France, now my experimental works can be more detailed. Theses are the rings inspired by the plants.

Back From Another Trip

This is my "Must-have" suitcase for almost every trip. It's been with me since 10 years or so. Strangely no one in my family remembers where it came from. The stickers covering it are either stamped by me, bought in the visited countries or from my works. You can never mistake a suitcase like this in the airports. (The photo was taken on the plateform of Essen Main Train Station in Germany)

Lukang, a historical town in central Taiwan

Dazzling goods in real gold in a jewelry store.
Gold tea pots and cups! I'd love to drink tea with them!
Happy Chinese New Year with this funny gold pig! (This is for you, BJ)
An old advertisement of pesticide
In an old Chinese herb shop.

We went to Lukang last weekend. These are some interesting shots. In some way, it is indeed a historical town that reminds us her glorious days. Though I've been there 3 times, I took photos of everything like a curious tourist!

Winter at my grandparents'- The Army of Daikon Radish

Winter is the harvest season of daikon radish. Actually in Chinese it's "white radish". When I go back to grandparents' around Chinese New Year, the "white radish army" is always sun-dried in the yard. My grandparents grow, harvest, cut them into fine pieces then line them up to be dried, finally store them carefully. All by themselves with lots of patience. The dried white radish chips can add a sunny, fresh taste to meat soups.

Beauties in the jars

Glass beads
Glass, silk beads and flower shape buttons by the window of the hotel.
(Pont Neuf) Le Pont Neuf ("New Bridge") over the Seine

These beautiful beads were bought in a Parisian craft store during my European business trip in January. In this famous and old- fashioned shop, customers have always to wait for at least 20 minutes before being served by one staff. This makes me feel time wasting and snob, while many of the craft shops are "open-shelfed". However once you hold on and finally have someone to take care of you with this "customer first" attitude, your pride would get back a little bit. Furthermore they have lots of delicate beads that you can not find any where else, "waiting" seems to be the only destiny.
I always like to bring back the small findings in the jam and yoghurt jars of hotel breakfasts.

My Glass Candle Cups
